Congratulations to Ruth Julie Kissam for winning the 2018 Trukai Community Award and for being awarded the overall 2018 Westpac Outstanding Woman last night at the Gateway Hotel.

She was nominated for her role in the community as a very active anti-violence and women’s advocate for more than 10 years. Her focus is on ending gender based and sorcery related violence through the ‘Senisim Pasin Campaign’. In 2015, Ruth was asked to help set up the Sorcery National Action Plan for the government.

Ruth is the Director of Operation to the Papua New Tribal Foundation, a local and internationally based NGO that develop strategic partnerships and models to help solve problems faced by everyday Papua New Guineans.
