01 May TRUKAI RECOGNIZES COMMONWEALTH MEDALLISTS WITH CASH INCENTIVE
The three medallists from the recent Commonwealth Games were recognised by their major sponsor for their efforts to receive gold and silver medals for Papua New Guinea.
Trukai Industries Ltd is a proud sponsor of weightlifting through the PNG Weightlifting Federation for more than 20 years.
The company’s support even goes beyond by supporting each athlete within the code based on their performances from international sporting events such as the recent Commonwealth Games.
Today, Trukai Industries Ltd did a presentation to officially announce the company’s support to the three medallist; Steven Kari, Dika Toua and Morea Baru.
Trukai Industries Ltd, General Manager Sales and Marketing, Mr Andrew Daubney, handed over the cheque presentation to the athletes.
Steven Kari will receive K20,000 for securing gold medal whilst Dika Toua and Morea Baru will receive K10,000 each for winning silver medals.
“We are proud that our support and commitment through our sponsorship has enabled these weightlifters to prepare for and attend international sporting events such as the recent Commonwealth Games to put PNG on the world map.
He also acknowledged and congratulated all the six weightlifters for their sacrifice and commitment put into training whilst being away from home and their families for almost a year.
“Prior to the games, we embarked on a campaign called “Lifting PNG To Gold” to rally public support behind the weightlifters to secure medals for PNG and I am pleased to say that our campaign was a successful one with weightlifting securing the only gold medal for PNG.
“It takes incredible dedication and resilience to do what they do, and to be rewarded with gold and silver medals is an amazing outcome and we hope that what we give to them today will help them dream big in their sporting career”, he said.
All six weightlifters were given Trukai merchandise including a 20kg Trukai rice bag each.
